Should You Have It Framed, Or Not?
Decorating and Lighting Tips
Hello everyone!
All of my artwork comes ready to hang and this makes it possible to display smaller artworks in several different ways. One of my favorite places to hang a small wall art is above or behind a lamp that is just bright enough to illuminate the artwork so you see it clearly when you enter the room. This can be very welcoming.
You could also hang it or display it with a group of collectables on the wall, on a stand, or propped on a shelf or other flat surface. The reason you prop 1.5″ thick unframed artwork is the weight will not hold the artwork so that it can stand alone. The only problem I see with using a stand is the ones that will display artwork 1.5′ thick are generally fairly expensive and sometimes hard to find.
The framed artwork is 2″ thick and will stand alone. It also weighs more, which is not always convenient. Framing an artwork you cherish can enhance its heirloom quality; however, it is still a matter of personal preference. Your children may see it as precious, whether or not you frame it.
So, If you are purchasing one of my accent pieces for yourself, the primary consideration is how you like your art…very casual, or more dressed up! If it will be a gift, you will need to consider how the person you are giving it to will feel about whether or not it is framed.
Thank you for visiting Sharon Lykins Art. I hope you stop by again and again!
Sincerely,
